Developed in 1917 as a charming enclave for workers at the nearby American Can Company, this unique street remains unlike anywhere else in the city. The historic cottages are identified by letters instead of house numbers and surround a peaceful shared green, creating a quiet neighborhood oasis just steps from Bayou St. John. When the cottages were first offered for sale in the 1920s, they were described as “the only one of its kind in the city”—and more than a century later, Saint John Court remains unlike anywhere else in New Orleans.

This cottage was our home for many years and remains a special place for our family. After serving as a long-term residence for several years, we’ve thoughtfully refreshed it for comfortable 30+ day stays while preserving the character and charm that first made us fall in love with Bayou St. John.

From the front porch, you’re just a short walk to Bayou St. John, City Park, neighborhood cafés, restaurants, the Canal Street streetcar, and many of the neighborhood’s favorite gathering spots. Whether you’re enjoying a morning stroll along the bayou, spending an afternoon in City Park, or discovering nearby coffee shops and restaurants, you’ll quickly understand why Bayou St. John is one of New Orleans’ most beloved neighborhoods.

The fully furnished home features a king bedroom, a second bedroom with two twin beds, a bright open living, dining, and kitchen area, and a separate reading nook with in-unit laundry. French doors open onto the front porch overlooking the shared green—our favorite place to enjoy morning coffee, read a book, or unwind after a day exploring the city.
